Steven Mihalcik: Amherst Ohio City Council At-Large Candidate
Steven Mihalcik is a Democratic candidate for Amherst Ohio City Council At-Large in the November 8, 2011 election. Also joining him on the ballot for Council At-Large are incumbent Frank Janik, also a Democrat, and incumbent Phil Van Treuren, a Republican.
Steve Mihalcik, Janik and Van Treuren were the only three candidates who filed to run for the At-Large Council seats as partisan candidates (Democrat or Republican). While no more partisan candidates can file to run for the seats in 2011, candidates are still allowed to file petitions to run as Independents if they file before the Tuesday, May 3 primary election day deadline.
If no more candidates enter the Amherst City Council At-Large race, then Mihalcik, Janik and Van Treuren will win the three seats without any competition.
Current Amherst Councilman At-Large Terry Traster declined to file for re-election this year. Other Amherst incumbents who filed for re-election in 2011 include Law Director Anthony Pecora, City Council President John Dietrich, First Ward Councilman Steve Bukovac, Second Ward Councilman Glenn Loughrie, and Fourth Ward Councilwoman Jennifer Wasilk.
New candidates that have filed to run for election in Amherst this year are Republican Albert Bereznay (First Ward) and Republican Chuck Winiarski (Third Ward).
