Phil Van Treuren’s Lorain County Service March

November 18, 2011

Dear Neighbors:

Today, I’m excited to launch an extensive door-knocking campaign to visit thousands of Lorain County homes while wearing the same combat boots I wore in Army Basic Training.  The goal of my “Lorain County Service March” is to personally introduce myself to as many Lorain County residents as possible before election day in 2012.

As a former officer in the United States Army, I got the inspiration for my eleven-month Service March from the many road marches I went on as a soldier.  One of the things I learned in the Army was the value of hard work and tenacity, and I’m looking forward to walking a lot of miles in the coming year.

Selfless Service was one of the values that guided me in the military, and it’s also a driving force behind my campaign for Lorain County Commissioner.  I want to encourage every Lorain County resident to serve their community, and the Service March is my way of leading by example.

My Army Combat Boots are actually more comfortable than you might think, and they help remind me that knocking on doors is a lot easier than the job our service members are doing around the world right now.

I’m looking forward to talking with you in your neighborhood soon.  If you see me out there, please stop to say hello and share your ideas about the future of Lorain County!

Sincerely,

Phil Van Treuren
