Lorain County’s chief government executive official is Mr. James R. Cordes.  Jim Cordes’s duties as the chief administrator in the county include being a liaison to groups in the community, government boards and agencies; updating and advising the board of Lorain County Commissioners on county finances, procedures and policies; and ensuring that couty programs are being run effectively and efficiently. (As of 2012, the Lorain County Commissioners board consists of Ted Kalo, Lori Kokoski and Tom Williams.)

According to the official Lorain County government website, James Cordes also oversees and coordinates the tasks of many Lorain County departments that fall under the oversight of the commissioners.  These include:

Jim Cordes is a United States Navy veteran and the prior director of Lorain County human resources.  His office is located in the Lorain County Administration Building.
