January 2012 Campaign Update Letter to Phil Van Treuren Supporters
January 2, 2012
Below is the text of a letter that I’m dropping in the mail today to supporters of my campaign for Lorain County Commissioner. Remember: if you want to become a volunteer for our campaign, it’s as easy as clicking on this link!
Dear Friends:
Happy New Year! I hope that you had a great Christmas holiday and that you’re as excited as I am about what awaits us in 2012.
Because you’ve expressed interest in keeping updated about our efforts to fight for fiscal responsibility in Lorain County, I wanted to mail you a letter detailing what we’ve accomplished so far and what we have planned for the future. I’ll be mailing out campaign update letters like this one periodically over the next ten months.
Since I announced my candidacy in November, we’ve made some great gains in voter outreach, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. In spite of the fact that the holiday season is a difficult time to get people interested in a political campaign, we’ve made some amazing progress. Here are just a few highlights of our successes over the last eight weeks:
– 42 Lorain County residents contacted us to add their name to our list of campaign volunteers
– I have personally visited more than 4,000 homes in Lorain County to introduce myself to residents and hand out campaign literature
–We hired a fundraising coordinator, Julie Prince, and have started identifying area campaign chairpersons in communities across Lorain County
–Thousands of Lorain County residents have seen our campaign ads on Facebook and become fans of our campaign Facebook page
The response that I’ve received from Lorain County residents during my door-to-door efforts over the last two months has been very positive, and I’m encouraged by the number of people who already know my name. Walking door-to-door can be tough in the winter months, but the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having has made it much easier.
Here are a few of the milestones that our campaign is working hard to reach before the primary election on March 6, 2012:
– We will be mailing out an introductory letter to nearly 20,000 Lorain County voters in the next four weeks (my family and I have been stuffing envelopes for weeks!)
– I’m on track to hit my goal of visiting 10,000 homes by the primary election day
– We will hold our first campaign fundraiser in the City of Lorain in February, with more fundraisers in other Lorain County communities in future months
Thank you so much for the offers of help and the encouraging words that you’ve given in the opening weeks of our campaign! Please don’t hesitate to contact me personally anytime if you have any suggestions or questions. I’ll be keeping you posted about upcoming volunteer opportunities!
Sincerely,
Phil Van Treuren
Candidate for Lorain County Commissioner
P.S. — Do you have any friends or neighbors who might want to help with our campaign? If so, please tell them about what we’re doing and encourage them to contact me personally!
