Dan Ramos Is The Ohio State Representative For The 56th District
Dan Ramos, a Democrat, serves in the Ohio State House of Representatives as the State Rep for the 56th House District of Ohio. Ramos, who lives in Lorain, was first elected to the seat in November 2010, following a Democratic Primary victory against Jose Candelario. As of 2011, the 56th Ohio House District covers areas of the City of Lorain, Elyria, Oberlin, Amherst Township and the Village of Amherst, all in Lorain County.
Dan Ramos was elected to this position following the retirement of State Representative Joe Koziura, also a Democrat (due to term limits). Ramos was previously the legislative aide to Koziura in Columbus. Koziura went on to run for Lorain County Commissioner, but was beaten by current Lorain County Commissioner Tom Williams, a Republican.

Representative Ramos is a member of the Health & Aging Committee, a member of the Education Committee, a member of the Health and Aging Subcommittee of Retirement and Pensions, and a member of the Commerce and Labor Committee.
Ramos is a native of the City of Lorain. He graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School, and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University. He has been employed at the Lorain County Department of Job & Family Services as a caseworker. In addition to working for State Representative Joseph Koziura, Dan Ramos also worked for Speaker Budish and Minority Leader Beatty as a Senior Policy and Budget Analyst.

Under the newly re-drawn districts submitted by the Ohio Apportionment Board, the 56th Ohio House District now includes the following cities:
New Russia Township
Sheffield Lake City
South Amherst Village
