Amherst Ohio schools include Marion Steele High School, Amherst Junior High School, Nord Middle School, Harris Elementary, Powers Elementary and Shupe Elementary.
The citizens of Amherst are actively involved in local schools, and it’s one of the things that makes our city such a good place to raise a family. The Amherst School District is not limited to the borders of the city however, and includes a small portion of the City of Lorain as well. School board members are elected by voters within the school district, and school taxes are paid from an Amherst school levy on homeowners in the district.
