Amherst Ohio Police Department, Police Station

The Amherst Ohio Police Department is the reason why our community is one of the safest in all of northeast Ohio.  Our police department is highly regarded by everyone in the city, is very professional, and does a terrific job of keeping Amherst families and neighborhoods safe.

The Amherst Ohio police station is a modern facility that is well-staffed and professionally run.  Amherst police officers have a visible presence in the community and are committed to being well-trained professionals and fulfilling their duty of protecting our streets and citizens.

The police department, fire department and safety services are some of the most important components of local government, and Amherst Ohio City Council is tasked with approving police department budgets and ordinances related to public law and safety.  We are lucky to live in a community where politics does not play a role in our safety services, and that members of each party are primarily concerned with keeping our streets safe.

The police department and police station used to be located in Amherst City Hall, but today it has a modern facility located at 911 North Lake Street.  Citizens can pick up police reports at the station, but reports can take up to a week to be inputted into the computer system.  There is no fee for police reports as long as they don’t go over 19 pages.

Additionally, if you need to get your fingerprints taken for any reason, you can do so at the Amherst Ohio police department as long as you are a resident of the city.  Just be sure to bring along your identification and the fingerprint card.
