Amherst, Ohio Mayor: David Taylor

Amherst Ohio Safety Service Director: Dennis Clotz

Dennis Clotz has served as the Director of Public Safety and Service for Mayor David Taylor during the last eight years.  This position is appointed by the Mayor, and he is in charge of supervising the fire department, Amherst police department, and Amherst building department.  The service director is also in charge of overseeing the public works of other City departments such as sewer, water, electric and streets.

Amherst OH Auditor: David Kukucka

Dave Kukucka is the elected Auditor of Amherst, Ohio.  The auditor’s position is a 4- year elected position.  The auditor is in charge of accounting, receipts and disbursements in the City, and representing Amherst in financial matters.

Amherst, OH Law Director: Anthony Pecora

Amherst Ohio City Council, Council President, Council Clerk

Amherst’s City Council consists of the Clerk of Council, the Council President, and seven elected council members.  City Council members serve two year terms, and the Council President serves a four-year term.

There are three At-Large members of Amherst Council.  These three councilpersons are elected by a vote of the entire city.  The top three vote-getters in the Council At-Large race are elected to these positions every two years.

Council At-Large members are: Phil Van Treuren (440) 506-0449; Frank Janik; and Terry Traster (440) 988-9070. (Note:  Terry Traster did not file for re-election in 2011.  At-Large council members who filed for re-election as of February 2011 were Phil Van Treuren and Frank Janik.  Also filing to run for Amherst Council At-Large was Steven J. Mihalcik, a Democrat.  The deadline has not yet passed for Independent candidates to file.) UPDATE: Joe Miller, an Independent candidate, has filed to run for City Council At-Large in the 2011 general election.

The Ward Two Councilman is Glenn Loughrie, (440) 988-2442. (Note: David Goodell has filed to run against Loughrie as an Independent in the 2011 general election).

The Ward Three Councilman is Joe Gambish, (440) 988-4245. (Note: Joe Gambish did not file for re-election to Third Ward council in 2011.  Instead, Chuck Winiarski, a Republican, filed for the seat.  Joe Gambish has indicated that he will challenge Mayor David Taylor in the Amherst General Election, and that he will be running as an Independent candidate).
