Amherst Ohio Library

The Amherst Ohio Library is located at 221 Spring Street, which is a central spot near downtown.  The original library building itself was actually constructed with a grant from Andrew Canrnegie, and was made from sandstone out of the local quarry.

The Amherst Public Library provides books and resources in many different formats to children and residents in the City of Amherst, the Amherst School District, South Amherst, and Brownhelm Township.  The library sees many daily visitors, not just children but adults as well.

On the first floor of the library, visitors can browse books as well as a collection of DVD and VHS movies (popular titles, not just educational) and check them out for viewing at home.  The second floor features more books, a children’s section, and computers with Internet access.

The Amherst Ohio Library fits in beautifully with the quaint, small-town feel of the rest of the city, and is a wonderful place to visit with other family members.  The employees are courteous and friendly, and it has a very large selection of books, movies and other resorces.

In addition to the many educational materials available for checkout, the library also features frequent programs, presentations and seminars for residents.  The library does a great job of arranging events for its patrons, and it really cares about going above and beyond just providing books to read.

If you get a chance, please visit the Amherst Public Library with your children and peruse the books, movies and other materials.  Amherst families are lucky to have such a great facility at the heart of its community.
